Green aspirations help Jacksonville scientist win state title

Dr. Amir Varshovi was 18 when he emigrated from Iran with dreams of becoming an American scientist.

Varshovi received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of South Florida, and his master’s and doctoral degrees in the same field from the University of Florida. During his time at UF he also worked as a researcher in the soil and water science department, conducting efficacy studies on commercial fertilizers and their impact on the environment.
